If There’s One Comforting Truth of Science For Me

It’s that I have learned that we all ask the wrong questions.  Every day.

For example, we have always asked “What is the purpose of Life?”

Science has taught me this; There is no purpose to Life, but wow does Life have a purpose.

It’s absolutely maddening how our cellular machinery just DOES what it DOES.  They have functions that are somehow inscribed onto them CHEMICALLY.  They don’t think, they have no memory.  They are organic robots performing each individual rote task which will ultimately keep us alive.

Life’s purpose is so purifying.

And thinking about that makes me feel insignificant to the cellular subordinates that make me work.  If I were a celebrity then every cell in my body would be my enormous fanbase, they would be the reason why I had my success in my ‘career’ of Life.  If I ever win some cool award for anything remotely related to science I am going to thank my mitochondria for powering me to that podium.
